WELCOME!
The Austin Miller Studio & Gallery (established in 1988) overlooks Lake Superior near where I was born. The Lake’s astounding beauty clears my mind and puts it squarely in the moment. That’s heady stuff and was likely the reason I became a painter.
Watercolor’s fluid nature leads you gently down the creative path, setting the imagination free and bringing forth a primal element of who we are. Even during the most frustrating moments in a painting, the experience is one of passion and wonder.
Watercolors are simple, portable and highly spontaneous. The luminous washes and shimmering white of the cotton paper are attributes not found in other painting mediums.
Although I also work in collage, transparent acrylics, oils, and painting on silk, watercolors are my go-to hands down favorite.
